Voices from country
Connected Beginnings Lutruwita is committed to amplifying the voices of Aboriginal children, families, and communities through the power of data and storytelling.
Guided by care, respect, and community principles, we integrate Aboriginal ways of knowing with evidence-based research to create a collaborative and culturally informed approach to early childhood development and health promotion.
In Connected Beginnings Lutruwita, we believe that data is alive. It tells a story, reflects relationships, and helps us make sense of the world. Our approach to research embraces the belief that stories are integral to knowledge production. By honouring the role of storytelling, we engage with data not as detached statistics but as a living, breathing reflection of the experiences, challenges, and dreams of Aboriginal children, their families and the broader community.
All the stories shared are carefully deidentified to protect the anonymity of the children, families, and communities involved. We deeply respect the contributions made by the community, whose voices inform and shape our work.
winterfest:
Voices from community
At WinterFest 24 in Bridgewater, Lutruwita/Tasmania, we invited the community to share their voices, offering a unique opportunity to express their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations. Through a series of facilitated voice collections and community engagement activities, we gathered invaluable insights from those who know this place best: its people.
In the Kutalayna/Jordan River area, a strong sense of belonging permeates the community. Here, togetherness, family, and mutual care are deeply cherished. Events like WinterFest are pivotal in celebrating these values, highlighting the importance of culture, community, and connection to the land. These gatherings create shared moments that bind the community together, enriching the present and shaping the future.
WinterFest 24, a celebration of community spirit, culture, and connection, is proudly hosted in Bridgewater, Tasmania, by the Kutalayna Collective, Connected Beginnings Lutruwita, Material Institute Lutruwita, local partners and the community.
